Impact of child poverty in schools

A study published by the Child Poverty Action Group on 19 September revealed that child poverty is having a concerning impact on schools, with school staff heavily diverted from other parts of their roles as they seek to address the poverty related needs of their school community. Over 1000 school staff, including many of you, took part in the survey, which received a range of coverage in the national press.

Ventilation in schools

As the weather turns cooler, it is a good time to check the measures your school is taking to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and other airbourne viruses. It is also important that your school is actively using its carbon dioxide (CO2) monitors in all classrooms as required by the DfE. The joint union guidance, which you can pass on to your school leadership, will help you make sure proper ventilation is in place.
